The South Burgundy Vineyards
EXPERIENCES
Cooperative Wineries
We have many high-quality cooperative wineries in our region: Cave de Chardonnay/Lugny, Cave de Mancey, Cave d’Azé, Les Terres Secrètes in Solutré, Cave de Buxy, and more. 13 of the 19 cooperative wineries in Burgundy are located in Saône-et-Loire, which speaks for itself! You will always receive a warm welcome, enjoy free tastings, and find unbeatable value for money.
Wine Estates
Tastings at Wine Estates are generally free, but it is important to call ahead and make an appointment with the winemaker. We can arrange appointments for our guests upon request.
Private Tastings at La Cadole de Chardonnay
Looking for an exclusive experience in an idyllic setting? We organize tastings with a local partner winemaker, followed by an aperitif board (charcuterie and cheeses) at our second estate, La Cadole de Chardonnay, located nearby. (Price: €45/person). For this new 2026 season, we are also offering a mixed option (No-Low tasting and a vegetarian board) so that everyone can be a part of this shared experience.
Wine Tourism Events in the Region
Wine fairs, open days, wine festivals, and major wine gatherings are very frequent and varied in our region. Don’t forget to check what is scheduled for the dates you have chosen to stay with us!
Wineries & Cellars

Cave de Chardonnay or Cave de Lugny
- The Cave de Chardonnay and the Cave de Lugny, located about 8 kilometers apart, offer the same wines and crémants. The Cave de Chardonnay is open seasonally, while the Cave de Lugny is open year-round.
- In addition to the classic, free tastings available, the Cave de Lugny hosts numerous events that always provide high-quality and unforgettable experiences. Don’t miss the open days in Chardonnay or Lugny either, which are quite a unique spectacle. Whether there is an event or not, you are always guaranteed a flawless and warm welcome.
- For bachelor or bachelorette parties, celebrating with us is the perfect opportunity to go and choose your wedding wines. The excellent value for money of Chardonnay’s wines and crémants, along with the very wide selection, has won over many of our guests.

Domaine Vuillemez Père&Fils in Chardonnay
- At Vuillemez Pères & Fils in Chardonnay, you can discover wines of remarkable quality and elegance. There is a true signature style here; Vuillemez wines are truly in a class of their own.
- You must book in advance via their website for a tasting and cellar tour.
- We very warmly recommend this visit, located right in the heart of the village of Chardonnay!

Château Chardonnay in Chardonnay
- At Romain Poncet’s, you will always receive a warm welcome as he truly loves sharing his passion. As a little bonus, his father, who has deeply studied the history of Chardonnay, will enhance your visit with fascinating insights into our local history.
- A “Château Chardonnay” right in the heart of the village of Chardonnay, what else?
- We very warmly recommend discovering these high-quality wines, which offer excellent value for money!

Domaine Hervé Philippe in Champvent (Chardonnay)
- Hervé Philippe is a bit of a personal favorite of ours, we must admit. Jean even nicknamed him “Panoramix” (after the druid in the Asterix comics) for his constant search for the most natural methods possible in his winemaking.
- A simple, natural, welcoming, and always smiling winemaker who truly shares his passion for his craft with you.
- High-quality organic wines, a lovely range, and prices that remain accessible—which matters too!

Les Cadoles de Chardonnay in Champvent (Chardonnay)
- Nicolas was the first winemaker we worked with when we arrived in Chardonnay. Available and welcoming, he is always ready—whenever his schedule allows—to organize a tasting at La Cadole de Chardonnay.
- Nicolas offers wines that possess that classic Chardonnay character (a balance between richness and acidity, a beautiful minerality, with aromas of pineapple and citrus, but also more complex notes of lime blossom and white fruits, through to a buttery or honeyed touch) that so many of you are looking for at an accessible price point.

Domaine Quintefeuille in Lugny
- We are very fond of Domaine Quintefeuille. You might say I’m repeating myself, but it makes sense—these are estates we know well, and we can personally attest to their warm welcome, passion for the craft, and the quality of their production.
- The first words that come to mind for Quintefeuille wines are balance, elegance, and finesse.
- Our absolute favorite is the Cuvée Elégance, but even the entry-level wines are well worth discovering, and these are wines that age beautifully when kept in good conditions.
- Accessible prices for high-quality wines.

At Catherine and Eric Giroud’s in Uchizy
- Éric and Catherine Giroud: two wonderful personalities, very down-to-earth and truly kind.
- Jean and I have been convinced of one thing since 2018: the winemaker is in the bottle! It might surprise you, but you could almost describe the winemaker and their wine using the very same words.
- When I say “simple and unpretentious” to describe a wine, I don’t mean “low-end” or “table wine,” but rather “honest,” “unifying,” and “one that keeps its promises.”
Giroud wines are quite diverse—it’s up to you to find your favorites!

Domaine Talmard Mallaury & Benjamin in Uchizy
- Benjamin and Mallaury Talmard’s reputation is well-established. They have gained international acclaim over many years.
- There is a great deal of elegance and purity in their wines, reflecting the tasting venue itself.

Domaine Thévenard in Uchizy
The Thévenard Sons, at the cutting edge of innovation!
- Indeed, this fifth generation has plenty of strengths and has successfully amplified the family name.
- The visit promises wonderful discoveries of new techniques and a most delightful tasting experience.
- A great deal of sincerity, honesty, and purity.
- Lovers of classic Chardonnay character will be charmed—just as we were—by the winemakers, their dedication, their convictions, and the flawless results that stem from it all.

Cave d'Azé in Azé
The Cave d’Azé is truly worth the detour!
- A top-notch welcome and a convivial tasting where you won’t be overwhelmed with technical jargon. You are encouraged to follow your own sensations and impressions while they answer any questions you may have.
A very extensive range of wines—choice, choice, and more choice!
- Tradition, ancestral knowledge, and modernity come together in this winery, where significant space is given to the younger generation for the cuvée creations entrusted to them.
Truly great value for money!
You are bound to find a favorite at Cave d’Azé.
For example, “Le Note de Ruby,” chosen by Jean’s eldest daughter for her wedding, was a huge success.
- In short, as you’ve gathered, a visit to Cave d’Azé is a must if your schedule allows.
Good to know: This visit can be combined with a tour of the Grottes d’Azé (Azé Caves), where bottles are aged and where occasional tastings featuring local products take place.

Domaine des Terres Rouges in Azé
- We absolutely **fell in love with Domaine des Terres Rouges** during the Oenogourmandes event in Tournus.
- Since then, we have added it **to our selection**, much to the delight of our guests.
- Jean-Yves and his son Bastien share their passion with you while being incredibly informative and easy to follow.
- The tastings we have hosted at La Cadole de Chardonnay with Domaine des Terres Rouges have been a resounding success.

Domaine Gondard-Perrin in Viré
- With a range of over 13 wines, Domaine Gondard-Perrin has something to satisfy everyone.
- Exceptional quality right from the entry-level wines, which age wonderfully well. A top-notch welcome!

Domaine Franck Michel in Clessé
- Impeccable quality in both their welcome and their wines. Even though wine is always a matter of taste, you simply cannot be disappointed at Domaine Michel, and you are bound to find a Viré-Clessé that you’ll fall in love with.
- Domaine Michel’s reputation is well-established and has been for several generations now.
- Go there with your eyes closed and your taste buds wide open!

Domaine De La Verpaille in Clessé
- Domaine de La Verpaille is now in its fifth generation, with a family legacy of winemaking passed from father to son since 1880.
- Located in the heart of the Cru Viré-Clessé, this family estate has been offering a range of wines entirely produced through organic farming since 2006.
- Estelle and Baptiste prove that respecting tradition and a modern environmental approach are perfectly compatible!
- We discovered this estate during the 24th Printemps du Cru Viré-Clessé and immediately added it to our selection!
- If you enjoy connecting with passionate and highly meticulous winemakers, and appreciate pure, stable, and elegant wines, then don’t hesitate to visit Domaine de La Verpaille, where you will receive a very warm welcome.

Domaine des Gandines in Clessé
An absolute must-visit estate!
Red or white? Both, Captain!
- My personal favorites: Les Frangins (red) and Le Loris (white). Two truly exceptional wines with a unique signature.
Organic farming, transitioning towards Biodynamics.

Le Chai Duchet in Viré
A young and dynamic Estate!
- Even though the Estate is no newcomer—having been nestled in the heart of the Mâconnais in Viré since the 18th century—Alexis has brought a touch of dynamism and modernity that truly sets them apart.
- Today, the organic vineyard covers 9 hectares in the Viré-Clessé appellation and 2.5 hectares in Mâcon-Villages, in Viré.
- Special attention is paid to soil vitality and a constant reflection on climate-related challenges.
- A friendly, fresh, and invigorating welcome, much like the wines themselves. A price range and variety that caters to every palate and every budget.

Domaine Debreuille in Royer
- The youngest Estate among those we mention here, offering you the chance to treat yourself without breaking the bank.
- A friendly philosophy featuring vine adoption programs, workshops, hikes… and even a wine bar/restaurant starting in 2026: La Cabane du Vigneron.
- In short, at Debreuille, you are involved; you are participants rather than just spectators or consumers.
A visit or workshops to be enjoyed without moderation!

Domaine Lucie & François Xavier Delorme in Plottes
- Let’s be clear: like so many others, we absolutely love it. What makes this Estate special is that it offers Côte-d’Or appellations vinified in Plottes—and it is a resounding success.
- We truly appreciate this winemaking couple, whose generosity is also reflected in the way they welcome the seasonal workers who come to work with them. Respect for the Planet is good; respect for the customer is great; but respect for the human element is even better.

Cave de Mancey in Tournus
- The Cave de Vignerons de Mancey is a wonderful winery to start with; it is educational and focused on awakening the senses and awareness.
- You will find an extensive selection of wines from the cooperative, as well as others from throughout Burgundy.
- Several tasting packages and educational tours are available there.
- The Cave de Mancey can accommodate large groups and seminars.
- This is another visit we warmly recommend, and one that our guests at Gîte de La Pyranvôle almost always include in their stay.
- Gîte de La Pyranvôle and La Cadole de Chardonnay are partners with the Cave de Mancey, so remember to mention you are staying with us to enjoy some special bonuses!

Domaine Baptiste & Francis Delorme Plottes/Prety
- Simplicity, kindness, and generosity! These define these two winemaking brothers as much as their wine.
- Light, fruity, and easy-drinking whites, and reds with red fruit and cherry aromas, featuring a subtle hint of oak on the finish.
- The pink limestone and sandy soils of Pretty produce light, easy-to-drink wines.
- Call ahead to arrange a visit, usually in the late afternoon around 6:00 PM.
Excellent value for money.

Le Clos des vignes du Maynes in Cruzille
Zero chemicals since the very beginning!
- For biodynamic wine lovers, this is the must-visit Estate in Cruzille!
- Julien Guyot’s wines have earned a reputation that is truly well-deserved.
- With over 17 wines, not counting the Crémants and Marc de Bourgogne, the hardest part is choosing!

Domaine Nicolas Maillet in Verzé
- Chardonnay, Aligoté, Savagnin, Gamay, and Pinot Noir—an estate that boasts a wonderful richness!
- To truly showcase the character of the different terroirs, no commercial yeasts are used. Fermentations take place using the yeasts naturally present on the grapes from each individual plot. Vinification is carried out entirely in the estate’s winery.
- Nicolas Maillet: a personality and wines that leave no one indifferent. He actually managed to change my mind about Aligoté—something no one else had achieved before!

Domaine Barraud in Vergisson
Showcasing the terroir, respecting traditions, and offering a beautiful signature style within the breathtaking setting of the Rock of Vergisson.
Carrying on a long family tradition (since 1905), the current generation—equipped with a legacy of passion for wine and a commitment to quality craftsmanship—has nonetheless successfully reinvented themselves for our greatest pleasure.
You can visit Domaine Barraud with complete confidence because, in addition to discovering excellent, high-caliber wines, you will receive a very warm welcome!

Domaine Saumaize-Michelin in Vergisson
- It was actually our (Belgian) guests who introduced us to Saumaize-Michelin and the Artisan Vignerons wine fair. And yes, it works both ways! We share our secrets and our favorite spots.
- And what a magnificent discovery! Meeting Domaine Saumaize-Michelin at the Artisan Vignerons fair in November 2025 in Hurigny confirmed our first impression of rare and must-have wines.
- Pouilly-Fuissé 1er Cru, Pouilly-Fuissé, Saint-Véran, Mâcon-Villages, and Mâcon rouge, all under certified biodynamic farming.
- A fairly confidential gem: the Ampélopsis Cuvée—a must-have if there’s any left!
Our goal was to guide you a little in your choice of cellar visits and tastings during your stay with us, at Gîte de La Pyranvôle or La Cadole de Chardonnay.
And here it is: our list of our favorite winemakers! Of course, they aren’t all here (Saône-et-Loire alone boasts nearly 400 estates and cooperatives). We could also have mentioned the beautiful Domaine Rochebin in Azé for the many events organized there, or the essential Lugny Verres Des Vins in Lugny for delicious local, national, or international tastings. But our aim is not to overwhelm you with too vast a choice!
Furthermore, we want to leave you the pleasure of “adventure-mode” discovery or attending the many wine tourism events that bring our region to life: Les Œnogourmandes and the Vin sur Vin fair in Tournus, the Artisan Vignerons Fair in Hurigny, the famous Chardonnay Day in Chardonnay, Le Printemps du Cru Viré-Clessé, or the traditional Saint-Vincent Tournantes. The Mâconnais-Tournugeois Tourism Office also offers very original tastings and tours, such as Segway rides through the vineyards!
If you are curious, we also have some great addresses to recommend in the Côte Chalonnaise, Beaujolais, or Côte de Beaune. However, our philosophy is one of the most local discovery possible. That is why this selection voluntarily remains focused within a radius of about thirty kilometers around us.
We hope this page will be useful for organizing your stay and ensuring you don’t miss any of the viticultural richness of Southern Burgundy. Cheers! 🍷
